Couples Therapy
If you are reading about couples therapy, then I am guessing your
relationship has changed, and not for the better. Perhaps not so long ago, you
were close to your partner and now, the two of you seem distant. You’re
disagreeing more, and communication just seems off. Perhaps there is pain and
resentment that now defines your relationship and you fear that there is no way to get past it.
Lets work past this pain together. Like you, I believe that pain can subside and injuries can heal. As a couples therapist, I will work with you as a couple and help build a stronger bond. There is no reason to continue feeling hurt and unheard by the person you love.
While working with couples, I use a model known as Emotional Focused
Therapy or (EFT). Together we explore the many aspects of your relationship and
strengthen the emotional bond that has always been there under the surface. From therapy, expect a stronger connection with your loved one like you have never experienced.
Individual
Individual therapy is an amazing choice for those who wish to build
more insight and understanding of feelings and emotions. By taking time out of
your day, you can work through those self limiting thoughts that have been
slowing you down and hindering your growth. Are you feelings anxious, depressed,
or suffering from panic attacks? Is school overwhelming and a relationship
devastating your ability to function? That’s a lot to hold on too. If so, then
take some time out of your day for “you”. I would like to hear from you.
Family Therapy
Sometimes families just don’t know what to do. A family member has
changed and it seems like the whole family is going to fall apart at any moment.
There is fighting in the house and your evening dinners have become
uncomfortable and silent as of late. A teenager is angry and your significant
other is distant and withdrawn. This is not uncommon as many families are going
through the same thing you are. If you are tired of your house feeling like a
hostel filled with strangers, then let’s change things up a bit.
Specialties
Couples Therapy - As stated above, couples therapy is the conjoint work done by a couple to strengthen their emotional bond and grow together rather than apart. Many couples not only get a stronger relationship after participating in couples therapy, they often find their relationship grows stronger than it had been in years past. Communication opens up for both partners and being heard by one another grows into a reality. You do not have to be married to seek couples therapy. It can be a great idea and highly encouraged to work on your relationship long before disagreements lead to a break up or divorce.
Dating Issues - Working on understanding dating culture and the ever changing dating scene. Many people get discouraged at the over complication of the dating world. It can be painful to navigate and move forward in, especially if you are at the age to move towards a healthy relationship. Often times, issues with dating start with the person and their un-met needs. Discovering who you are and what makes you work is the first step in growing towards a healthy dating profile.
Male Social Issues - For some men, the transition between being a teen, going to college and figuring out how to become a male adult can be blurry. Often times, men in their late twenties are still playing video games and wanting more out of life while not knowing how to get started. It takes courage to move beyond our comfort zone and ask our self difficult questions about who we want to be and how do we get there. It is not uncommon that many male social issues may deal with anxiety surrounding dating life. Let us work together and get past these obstacles.
Anxiety and Panic Attacks - There is nothing funny about anxiety and panic attacks. Anxiety can prevent us from living our lives and experiencing the events that we deserve. You may find that you are afraid to go to social event because you get feelings of a clenching throat, heart racing, dizziness, dry sweats and a feeling of nausea. This is not something that you have to deal with forever. Lets see if we can stop this anxiety together.
Sex Therapy - Generally, the lack of sex in a relationship is more complicated than just physical intimacy. As sex in a relationship has many components, the withdrawing of physical contact may have more to do with a lack of safety and security with your partner. Rather than going for months without intimacy, lets see if we can get past this and start working on your relationship needs now.
